First Growth Wines

  • Château Haut-Brion

    One of the oldest properties with a vast history. The only wine not from the Medoc to be given the title of First growth. It is in fact located in Graves. Thomas Jefferson once wrote, "Haut Brion is a wine of first rank and seems to please the American plate more than the others that I have been able to taste in France"

  • Château Lafite-Rothschild

    It could be argued that this is perhaps the most famous of all the vineyards in Bordeaux. Under the stewardship of the Rothschild family this large château has become intertwined with notions for prestige, wealth, elegance and power. This is often reflected in the high prices this wine fetches.

  • Château Latour

    Its history dates back to the Hundred Year War. Regularly rated as one of the best wines in the world, this château is without doubt one Bordeaux greatest properties. Producing wines of great complexity and character it rarely fails to deliver.

    This grand old château is renowned for its rich and opulent wines. Needless to say this is one of the champions of Bordeaux. Dating back to the 12th century its history is a rich as the wines this château produces.

    The only wine to be upgraded from a second growth to First growth status after much lobbying from its powerful owner Baron Philippe de Rothschild. There is no doubt that this château produces wines of the highest calibre.
